Thank you for supporting small business
Please reach us at info@kansascraftsman.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Absolutely! Kansas Craftsman has partnered with one of the largest American cabinet companies to provide cutting and finishing services based on our design and specifications for each cabinet, ultimately increasing our efficiency in building your quality cabinetry. All lumber, plywood, finishes, and hardware are from American manufacturers too! Unlike many other companies out there, we will never offer cabinets imported from other countries nor will we offer hardware that is not professional quality.
Generally, the lead time is 6-8 weeks from the time the order is processed to the delivery of your ready-to-install cabinets. If you are ordering doors only, the lead time is generally 3-5 weeks. Accessories and moldings are generally 4-6 weeks. We will soon offer an expedited program where we deliver the casework earlier in the process and the doors and other components later. This will allow you to measure for countertops and move on to other renovations earlier in the process. Send us an email if this is something that interests you and we will discuss your upcoming project.
One year warranty. See detailed warranty information here.
We like to think so. Think of us as a replacement for buying your cabinets from a large home improvement store where you are just another customer to walk through their doors.
As a small business, we treat every customer with dignity and uphold respect for their remodel budget. We believe the exceptional quality of our American-made cabinetry coupled with our high degree of expertise in assembly greatly surpasses even the best cabinet line each home improvement store has to offer, yet we try our best to offer the greater quality product at competitive pricing.
We will never claim to be the least expensive nor the most expensive. What we do claim is that we will never sacrifice quality and will do everything we can to meet your budget goals. If it's not quality, we're not going to sell it.
We offer fully customizable cabinetry and have partnered with one of the largest custom cabinet manufactures in the U.S. to assist us with cutting and finishing the parts of the cabinet using only American lumber, hardware, and finishes. All cabinets are designed and built by us, ready to install in your home. All cabinetry is designed to fit your space, with optional professional installation in many cases. All cabinetry is delivered and carefully placed inside your home by an experienced and insured local moving company, ensuring a seamless and secure process.
We offer three separate quote packages and which one you choose is determined by the amount of DIY effort you might consider.
Complimentary quote (your design using our cabinet catalog) [Most DIY]:
Virtual Design + Quote $50 [Some DIY]:
In-Person Design + Quote $100 [Least DIY]:
If you're a resident of Kansas or Oklahoma, we will be proud to work with you on a design and offer delivery right to your worksite. Whether you're a homeowner, designer, contractor, investor, or anyone else looking to create a luxury kitchen at a competitive price, we're here to help you make it happen. Let us provide you with high-quality cabinetry and exceptional service that brings your vision to life—at a price you'll love!
At this time, our workshop operates privately and is not open to the public. To ensure your cabinets arrive safely and in perfect condition, we include delivery in the cost by experienced professionals. Upon delivery, we kindly ask that you inspect the cabinets and sign a delivery completion form to confirm everything has arrived and is damage-free.
We hire a local, insured moving company with the manpower to move cabinets efficiently and safely from our workshop to your location. They will bring them inside the house and place them where you need them. All drawers and doors will be removed from cabinets and individually protected during transport. The drawers will be re-installed in the cabinets while the doors will be kept separate, to be installed by you once your cabinets are installed.
Yes, with only a few exceptions:
Currently, we focus primarily on providing and installing cabinetry, allowing us to specialize in this key component of kitchen renovations. As our business grows, we plan to expand into offering full in-house renovation services. In the meantime, we are always open to partnering with remodeling companies and welcome applications from reliable remodeling companies to join our network, ensuring we can provide our customers with comprehensive solutions alongside our cabinetry services.
Since we do not perform the full remodel a this time, our design service is limited to only the cabinet layout. Once you know where your walls, plumbing, electrical, and other components will be, we can perform the design for cabinetry.
The number one difference is quality in the joinery method. Not all, but many cabinets you'll find elsewhere are held together with staples, hot glue, plastic braces, and other types of quick-connectors. Their materials may be sub-par, finishes may not be very durable, and the cabinets may have originated in other countries. We're an American company and will always do my best to offer American products and quality in a budget you can meet.
Our cabinets are hand-built in our shop using components from our American partner company and utilize traditional joinery like dovetails, mortise & tennon, rabbits, dadoes, cleats, wood-glue, and screws. The materials are sourced within the U.S. at every opportunity. The finish is durable catalyzed conversion varnish meant to withstand the abuse in a kitchen.
Yes.
Our American partner company was the first associate member of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer’s Association (KCMA) to receive Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP) certification in 2008 and has continually achieved certification each year since. This program certifies the KCMA sustainability practices and procedures related to air quality, product resource management, process resource management, community relations, and environmental stewardship.
Our cabinet finishes offer the utmost protection for kitchen cabinetry and provides superior chemical and common kitchen stain resistance while maintaining color and sheen.
Conversion varnish topcoats require minimal care and cleaning. We recommend periodic cleaning with a mild detergent and water solution to remove dirt, dust and grease that buildup with routine usage.
The finishing program consists of traditional wiping stains, Truetones, Colourtones, Prism Paints, glazes, primers and topcoats. Combined, these finish options create a palette of over 7,000 unique combinations.
Topcoat finishes are industrial in nature, unlike finishes purchased at a retail store. Although they are of higher quality than most finishes, these industrial-grade coatings require a greater level of expertise to apply, which gives them a greater degree of durability.
Colourtones & Prism Paints are two-part, acid catalyzed, opaque basecoats, high in solids and match paint in appearance. These coatings are very durable and resistant to moisture.
Finish Process:
In many cases yes and it is unpreventable.
When solid wood is used in doors and drawer fronts, changes in humidity common throughout the seasons will cause the solid wood to expand and contract in all directions. Joint offsets will also happen where the frame gets out of flush at the joints during the expansion and contraction phases. Some species of wood expand and contract more than others. Paint, however does not move with the wood and is prone to developing hairline cracks at the joints due to the stresses between the two materials. This is a naturally occuring phenomenon that cannot be prevented in solid wood, especially when humidity is constantly changing and the wood is seeking equilibrium in moisture content. The paint product used exceeds all KCMA standards for adhesion and is a robust industrial finish for cabinetry.
Every cabinet order that uses solid wood and a painted finish will be required to sign a statement of understanding that hairline cracks in solid painted wood are not considered defective.
To remedy the natural tendencies of developing hairline cracks and joint offset, we highly recommend using MDF doors and drawer fronts for your painted cabinetry due to the stability of this product and resistance to hairline cracks. Additionally, we offer a hybrid version which utilizes a solid wood frame and a MDF panel. The hybrid version is still susceptible to hairline cracks but not to the extent as an all wood door. It’s also possible to mix and match by using solid or hybrid doors for the kitchen sink base and MDF everywhere else since the sink area may see more water splash.MDF has been stigmatized in the past as a lower quality product but here are some facts about MDF used in the cabinetry industry below. Keep in mind that MDF is very commonly used across the industry:
Paint finishes are just as durable as the stained finishes.
MDF cabinet doors deliver the following benefits:
Hybrid doors give the appearance of a wood door with the advantages of MDF in painted applications. See Paint Finishing FAQ's for more information.
The sealed MDF panel cabinet doors offer resistance to moisture and humidity, making them ideal for kitchens and bathrooms. This durable material is capable of maintaining its attractive appearance even in high-traffic areas of a home or business.
